Gluten Free Apple and Pear Crumble on TV
Ramadan Kareem. Here in Dubai Ramadan has begun. This is the holiest time in the Muslim calendar for Muslims. During Ramadan, Noor Dubai TV and Dubai One will be screening a beautifully filmed series by Reem Falaknaz, from Noor Dubai TV sharing recipes by some of the regions bloggers. The very lovely and talented Reem spent the morning with me in my kitchen making, filming and eating Gluten and Dairy Free Apple and Pear Crumble. The Middle East is known for its sweet tooth so this recipe will hopefully help some with kicking the sugar habit. It is also gluten free. I swapped the usual flour, sugar and butter for Pistachio Nuts and Buckwheat Flakes held together beautifully with virgin coconut oil. Reem was totally blown away by the sweetness of this dessert especially since I added no sugar to the recipe.
We all know the health benefits that can be gained by reducing our sugar in- take. Whether you are gluten intolerant or not, this recipe will make a very pleasant change from the usual crumble. Buckwheat Flakes can sometimes be a little difficult to find, so replace them with Gluten Free Oats or regular oats if you are not gluten intolerant.
